The House Standard

The Hallmark

For seven hundred years, a hallmark has meant one thing: someone stood behind the work. A goldsmith struck assay marks into silver so a stranger could trust what they held. We make pictures with machines, and we mark them the same way — openly, and to a standard.

What the mark guarantees

  1. Machine-conceived, declared. Every piece begins in our own forge — an image engine we run ourselves. We say so plainly. Nothing here pretends to be a painting it isn't.
  2. Human-judged, brutally. The forge proposes; the house disposes. Every piece is rated by human eyes against the house codes, and the overwhelming majority are destroyed. What you see survived.
  3. Hallmarked, and printed to order. Every studio print is hallmarked, and printed again while it is wanted. A one-of-one is printed once.
  4. Marked, twice. The visible hallmark is struck on the print. A second, invisible mark is woven into the image itself — our forensic tracer — so a woaaow piece can always be proven a woaaow piece.
  5. Printed and fulfilled by the studio. Order by noon (UK, weekdays) for same-day shipping. Tracked. Status by email, and in your account if you create one.

Why we mark openly

A machine can make a million pictures; that is exactly why almost all of them are worthless. What you see survived a human eye. The forge is declared. A mark is struck on the print, and a second mark can prove the piece. Concealment is the only thing this house refuses to print.
