Mont Saint-Michel Moonrise
The abbey-island of Mont Saint-Michel rises black against a midnight-blue sky, a blood-orange moon balanced on its spire and a long ribbon of light spilling across the wet sand. A horse and trap races the incoming grande maree while a lone traveller in a greatcoat walks the shoreline toward the causeway. Painted in the moody gouache register of the great French railway posters, all reflection and silhouette. The drama of the equinox tide, caught at the edge of dark. A cinematic centrepiece for a room with low light.
A few ideas:
- A name or initials worked into the lettering, signage or kit number.
- A short dedication or date tucked into the composition.
- A swapped detail — your pet in the scene, your home town in the destination, a partner's number on the back.
