The Koutoubia minaret rises over the terracotta rooftops of Marrakech as a spiral of swallows wheels through the warm dusk sky, drawn in the confident flat colour of a classic travel poster. Blue and red djellabas hang to dry on a rooftop line, tiled green domes catching the last gold light. The concentric arcs of birds turn the whole sky into motion. Sun-baked, unhurried, alive — it brings the heat and clamour of the medina to a quiet wall.
